Den in Tokyo, Japan, comes top of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2022

For the 10th consecutive year, Acqua Panna was delighted to stand side by side with S.Pellegrino in sponsoring Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2022.

Broadcast on 29th March 2022 on the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Facebook page and 50 Best Restaurants TV YouTube channel, the announcement was celebrated with a series of live events in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

On the night, the honor of being named Asia's Best Restaurant 2022 went to Den in Tokyo, Japan, by Zaiyu Hasegawa, the first Japanese restaurant since 2013 to be bestowed The Best Restaurant in Asia title.

Sorn in Bangkok, Thailand, by Supaksorn Jongsiri took the second spot on the podium, while Florilège in Tokyo, Japan, by Hiroyasu Kawate was placed third.

A series of special awards were also presented in advance of the event.

The winner of the Asia’s Best Female Chef Award was Japanese chef Natsuko Shoji of Été in Tokyo, who serves guests personally in her celebrated cake shop-turned intimate restaurant.

"Philosopher chef" Jeong Kwan, a South Korean nun who works in a modest hermitage, received the prestigious Icon Award - Asia, which honors a culinary figure whose influence extends beyond their community.

And the coveted American Express One to Watch Award went to Eat and Cook in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a labor of love for chefs Lee Zhe Xi and Soh Yong Zhi, who lost their jobs in the height of the COVID pandemic.
